Tuesday Wishes - The Sheer Maxi

So one of the many things I am looking forward to when the weather gets warmer ( and my thighs a little thinner ) is the chance to pull of one of these effortless "off duty" model looks.

The Sheet maxi dress. Worn here by beautiful Polish Model Anja Rubik, who recently married her long time beau Sasha Knezevic, whom is also a model. ( Congrats! ) Imagine the children!

The mix of blacks and lace seems to come off far more girly than gothic vampire, which I think looks lovely, and the iconic John Lennon style glasses give off the " I don't give a F*** " Vibe.

It's a Fierce look and a great way to show off your pins.
What do you think?

Next we have one of my absolute favourites, Australian Model
Abbey Lee Kershaw. She has rocked this look a few times on the street. And I know I would probably stop and stare like this guy if she walked passed me! This was apparently snapped stepping out of Gucci in Milan.

Is it just me or do models seem to be lone rangers on the street?
Have you ever seen a pack of models roaming and raiding the boutique strips? It's probably because they all work different schedules.

I bought a sheer lace maxi on sale from ASOS earlier in the year.

ASOS Lace Maxi Dress

It's out of stock now, but I have only had the courage to wear it once, and that was to a concert. I'm yet to find the right look that works for me I think.

Perhaps I will try out the Gaga / model esque style of just wearing underwear with it.  I work a long singlet underneath that covers the tops of my legs.

Here are a few pics of the ASOS dress. What do you think?

Well I'm going to have to have a good day today if I want to look this good in a sheer maxi.

So far I am on Black coffee #1- I did sneak a chocolate chip cookie so my stomach didnt rumble in my 8am meeting, and I am regretting it already! NOT A GREAT START.

I figure I have the rest of the day to get it right. A small slip up isn't going to ruin my day! I will not let it. And neither should you. Don't beat yourself up over your mis-grievances. Just fix them. Set them straight. And hopefully you will re-think next time you are caught up in temptation.

Perhaps there are even some in office exercises I can do whilst sitting in my chair at my desk. Calf raises perhaps? Stomach clenching? I did read that If you sit up straight you will burn 10% more calories than slouching. And your posture will improve.

So sit up straight ladies. Hold your heads high.

Monday Itis - Nina Inspiration

Today has literally dragged. I had a 3.5 hour meeting that started at 12pm. My manager had organised a baguette platter and pretty much shoved it in my face. It was really hard to resist temptation seeing as I hadnt eaten anything all morning.  I caved and had half a turkey baguette with lettuce. I am hoping to get to a Body Balance class at the gym tonight and work it off. I love body balance classes. It's a mixture of Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi. It really stretches you out and elongates your muscles. I am hoping it will also thin out my thighs more and give them tone, rather than these banana shapes that i'm currently rocking.

Plus anything that will give more flexibility is a bonus. Come on, how awesome does Nina Dobrev a self confessed yoga fanatic look in these pictures.

She is doing the Dancer's Pose, it's almost become a bit of a signature stance for some of her shoots. I think its fabulous that she can whip out poses like this with what looks like minimal effort. She has said she practices 3-4 times a week, and recently has gotten into Bikram or Hot yoga - which i am also keen to try.

Body balance also seems to calm my mind a bit. When I drive home in the car after class, I don't even turn on the radio, because I feel like it will ruin my high.

These shorts are also really cool. I love the purple gradient. They are Nike Pro Combat Compression training shorts. She looks so strong and in control in these poses.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Weekend Delights

So it is coming to the end of the weekend. Cue sadness that its over and cue stress about the week ahead.
Firstly I'm definitely going to try and skip dinner tonight.

Although my Sunday started well and I was up at 7am this morning for a 5km walk fundraiser, as the day progressed I felt my motivation and control lapse a little. The brisk walk this morning was a great way to wake up. I didn't eat anything before I left, and after it was all over  and I drove down to the beach for brunch with the parents. Luckily for me the restaurant had a very 'me' friendly menu. I was able to order poached egg whites with wilted spinach, and grilled tomato and field mushrooms. My parents didn't batter an eyelid when I didn't finished everything on my plate. Even though both my parents chowed down on greasy bacon and chorizo filled dishes.

Later in the afternoon I had to go to a bbq and while I managed to avoid most things on the table, I did eat some chicken wings, a small rissole and then just munched on capsicum and green salad.

One of my quick purchases over the weekend was a China Glaze in Pelican Gray. And I think I am in love. It's a perfect hue for winter, and not as stark or contrasting like a dark charcoal or black. I only applied it last night and already today had lots of positive comments.

The colour goes with pretty much everything, and held its own even when I wore a bold colour blocked purple top today.

Also if you haven't used a China Glaze nail polish before, they are great. Good coverage, quick drying and long lasting. Plus with added nail hardeners I don't feel like my nail chip or break as easily. So big smiles all round.

Now its about time that I put the kettle on and think about making some tea. I am really getting into peppermint tea lately, not only does it taste refreshing - but the peppermint actually curbs appetite.. Win/Win

Hope you've had a strong skinny weekend, best of luck for the week ahead.

Friday Fever

Being Friday in the office ( Australian Time Zone ), I am getting around in my super comfy Nobody Jeans, Black suede boots, a Lilac Bardot slouchy shirt, and a black leather and cotton Bettina Liano Jacket. Also have a black crochette scarf on. -Yes, I wear a lot of black.

But also today I am wearing one of my favorite rings. It's a double finger cross ring, that I picked up in Forever 21 on a stop over in Singapore earlier this year. Here is an image I found of it. What I love about it, is it not only looks awesome and tough, it's still quite girly and gothic. It also doesn't affect my typing or mouse using here at work.

I always feel more confident in casuals at work. Corporate wear is always so rigid and binding. I feel like I get to be me on Friday's.
Plus it also means that I can go out for a drink straight after work, and not have to go home and change.

So last night my housemate made an awesome risotto, with chicken, chilli, tomato, basil and feta. I think I ate about half of my bowl, and said that I would take the rest to work today for lunch... My bf ended up eating the rest of mine and that made me really happy.

All I have had so far today is one black coffee, its a great feeling being empty. I feel like I can accomplish so much more and be more productive when I am running on nothing. The guys are heading over to the cafeteria for lunch right now. Apparently it's schnitzels and chips there today. Ew!

I'm going to have to eat something soon. My bf is going to be having lunch with me today. I am hoping were just going to go home - we don't live far - and I can just eat a few pieces of the champagne ham we bought last night, and maybe pinch one of my housemates sugar free redbulls or a DC to tide me over till later. Tonight my sister wants to hangout, and I think wine and pizza is on the menu. I have been sick the past few weeks, so hopefully if i just say that my stomach is feeling a bit gross, she wont notice me only picking the topping off my food.

I hope you have had a good strong skinny week too. And the weekend is just like any other days and not an excuse to slip up and eat yourself silly.

If you feel yourself starting to slip, here is a bit of thinspiration.

Wednesday 3 August 2011

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

I don't quite know how to describe what has come over me.
An urge to make a change. To be a change. To be THE change.

Today started like any other. 8am Meeting. 2 x Black coffees and barrage of emails to work through.
Then something different happened. I decided it was time to blog. To share my thoughts after I have been enriched and inspired by reading other peoples for so long. It's time to stop admiring from afar and take the plunge.

A few years ago I did build my own small army of some of the most amazing like minded young women, and I was totally consumed with Pro-Ana culture. Now a few years older, and after taking a few steps back I am here again. And I have stories to share.

As a 20 something young professional women, I strive to be noticed appreciated in a male dominated industry.

The guys I work with know that I am not going to join them in the cafeteria for a plate of greasy fries smothered in gravy, or snack on chocolate bars in the afternoon. And that is the way I like it.

They also might think that I am a little on the cold side. But I would much prefer that, then have their wives and girlfriends think I am 'too friendly' with them. I have worked with women like this before, and I know that is not how I would like to be perceived.

Some things that I like: Maybe If you like them too, you should check in with me once in a while as this blog begins to grow.
